About Kirstie van Noort

Kirstie van Noort studied the raw materials for the production of Arita. She visited the quarries and factories for collecting and processing clay, and found that the Kaolin earth in Arita and nearby areas is of high purity, only a small part of the ore waste will be produced. However, this small amount of ore waste has become a source of creation for van noort and Setsu kiln. They use this waste to develop unique colors and new types of clay. For example, generally speaking, the white Amakusa island ore is used to make the field burning, while the black ore is discarded. The new clay developed by van Noort and Setsu kiln is a mixture of Kaolin and Amakusa ore.
